The Full Throttle Entertainment blog contains case studies and event reports along with educational material relating to audio, lighting and visual production.
A little while ago, we had the pleasure of providing lighting programming and production support to NOVA's "Fitzy and Wippa" for an upcoming parody of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" called "Wine Rack Bra" which is a parody involving the "Wine Rack"
Full Throttle Entertainment were on hand to program the moving lights, provide atmosphere effects (haze and fog) and provide production support for the video shoot.
Sean Bell (Nova Video Executive Producer) sent the following thanks:
"I just wanted to say a sincere thank you for accommodating our filming with Fitzy and Wippa last Wednesday, your staff went above and beyond to make it a very smooth day for us...
Full Throttle Entertainment put on quite the A/V spectacle, Full Throttle Entertainment's Adrian Davis and his attention to detail was exceptional, from setting up an excellent music cue system, to managing lighting effects, to even making up custom labels for the beer bottles – true professionals and a pleasure to deal with.
Thanks again and all the best"
Full Throttle Entertainment look forward to working with NOVA again.
This has been a project that has facinated us for a long time, Realtime audio processing via a computer.
In the past, the latency (time delay) to process the signal was too large, resulting in music artists being unable to perform with the delay due to the way we perceive sound.
A fantastic white-paper is available that talks about The Effects of Latency on Live Sound Monitoring
In the video below, resident propeller-head Adrian Davis tests out a low latency setup to find the delay and CPU usage on a Apple Mac Mini Server (i7 2.3Ghz Quad Core, 8GB Ram, SSD) with an Allen & Heath iLive iDR32, Yamaha Dante Accelerator PCIe, Akitio Thunderbolt Chassis and Waves Multirack, to try and find the best configuration of this setup for Latency vs. CPU
to iLive Dante
The results marked in Bold yeilded the best results in this test configuration at the time of testing, your results may vary.
Check out the video to meet some of the team at Novel and the drive behind the parties we all know and love! way to go!
Last night saw Full Throttle Entertainment provide production for British new-wave band "Spandau Ballet", (go on, don't hide it, you know their song "Gold") to promote their upcoming national tour and documentary Soul Boys of the Western World.
Below are some behind the scenes pictures, with more pictures after the jump to Nova's website below:
We had a little mixer recently where we invited a few of Sydney's leading Dj's to come and check out the new Funktion One PSM318 monitors!
Everyone seems to love the new monitors and heres a little video our mate Liam Schembri from BlackFilm put together!
For the last 16 years Rainbow Serpent has been held in Lexton, Victoria. The festival sees a larger attendance each year, 2014 had 17,000 visitors from all over the world!
In the events own words; "No longer just an electronic music festival these days you can expect to experience a unique combination of music, art, performance, spiritual education, relaxation and healing."
Rainbow Serpent, About Us, www.rainbowserpent.net
The system comprised of 10 Res 5's & 5 Res 4D's per side with an array of 16 F218's across the entire stage. A pair of Res 2's provided some infill for those who liked to get wiggly down at the front. On stage, performers enjoyed more Funktion-One with Res 2's on R18's.
As for the festival, it rocked! There must have been 7-8,000 people at one point dancing like the world was going to end! The vibe and all around quality production has earned the festival the reputation as "the best festival of its kind in the southern hemisphere". Therefore, its only fitting that we brought the biggest Funktion-One sound system in the southern hemisphere for 2014 which we did and more.
For 2014 we supplied a huge set up..
12 F218's where stacked 6 high with 10 Res5's and 5 Res 4D down fill were flown from towers on each side with 2 Res 2's for infill on stage, this configuration sounded incredible and the sound coverage around the 8,000+ people sized dance floor was perfect!
We also debuted our new Funktion One PSM318 Dj monitors designed in conjunction with Carl Cox and Richie Hawtin, these montiors are being hailed as the best around by every major headline Dj to perform at Rainbow Serpent, Earth Frequency, Maitreya and reading into press from Funktion One, also throughout the world! so we are very happy to have them in stock and also hold the only pair currently in Australia.
Rainbow serpent 2014 was our biggest event to date and certainly our highlight from the summer, since the festival we have had endless feedback saying the sound system on the market sage was the best its ever been and even the Djs saying they haven't performed on anything like it before, so we have again been confirmed for 2015 to do the sound on the market stage and possibly more, all of us at FTE can not wait for Rainbow Serpent 2015 and are delighted to be once again be involved!

New rental company Full Throttle Entertainment targets Australia
Published: 3 Apr 2012
AUSTRALIA: New Sydney-based A/V rental company Full Throttle Entertainment (FTE) has reported it has experienced an ‘overwhelmingly positive’ response in Australia so far. Officially launched in late 2011, the company describes itself as a Funktion One specialist, and was set up after managing director Adam Ward identified a gap in the market.
FTE specialises in providing high-end A/V production for concerts, festivals, nightclubs, and boutique corporate events. ‘We aim to provide the best customer experience through dedication to service whilst providing quality through the deployment of better technology,’ said Mr Ward.
Admitting that starting the new business was ‘nothing but challenges,’ Mr Ward remarked that FTE believe that ‘any challenge can be overcome with persistence and knowing where you're headed. Keeping your eye on that end goal is very important,’ he added.
Mr Ward has worked with Funktion One for over eight years in a wide range of applications, and describes the manufacturer as his ‘brand of choice’. Mr Ward reports that he ‘identified a need in the Australian market that we believed as a company we could provide for. We have a unique skill set gained through 20 years in the entertainment business, and when coupled with a brand like Funktion One, we can really provide people with a great experience. We have a strong passion for sound and production and get a real kick out of people’s reactions when FTE service their event,’ he enthused.
Mr Ward stresses that he would consider dealing with other brands, but so far the reaction to Funktion one equipment has been so positive that this has not been necessary yet: ‘We are finding that more and more, people that have had a chance to listen to the brand – whether they are experienced in audio or not – can tell the difference and comment that it is the best sound they have heard.
‘We currently own one of the largest Funktion One systems in the country and the feedback has been so positive,’ he furthered. ‘So far we haven't even began to start advertising or marketing the business and we are getting a lot of offers to work the system.
‘There is definitely a need for a company like ours in Sydney,’ he asserted. ‘The market for live music and entertainment in general is so high. For me personally, there is nothing worse than finally making it to see your favourite artist and then the performance sounds terrible. It can even effect your appreciation of the artist. We can guarantee that with us that wont happen.’
The managing director describes himself as ‘very happy’ with the direction the company is going in so far. ‘There is huge potential in the market for a system like ours and we are really exited to be doing what we do,’ he concluded.

Full Throttle Entertainment Director Adam Ward has toured with legends such as Tony Bennett and Frankie Valli and experienced everything in the sound game from production management to tour management to front of house engineering and PA design. He worked in America for 14 years in both LA and Vegas. He knows PA and has seen the DJ market grow extensively worldwide. Ward specialises in the design of sound systems for venues, but how does one design a PA system?
“You’ll get a client come to you and they will have an idea,” explained Ward. “Are they doing rock bands or DJs? What’s the space mean to do?” Once you get the design brief, you sit down and look at the space, work with architects and come up with what is best suited to the space.“
We specialise in hi-end DJs like Tiesto and Armand Van Buuren people like that. We specialise in clubs that they would play in. With a lot of the Vegas clubs, money is no option, they would come in and say we don’t care what it costs just build it. We really got to push the envelope.
For someone used to the magnitude of the Euro dance festivals and the elaborate clubs there and in America, Adam is disappointed that Australian club owners haven’t approached their venues with the same adventurous spirit as their overseas counterparts. "Sound systems are such an auditory and visceral experience. It really needs to be where you spend a lot of your money, most of them here don’t realise that,” said Adam. Good sound creates an environment that is comfortable and an environment that you want to be in. If the sound system is painful, too loud or horrible sounding you will actually drive people out of your venue and this obviously effects your bottom line. This is obvious yet many club owners simply just don’t get it.“
Full Throttle works closely with the Australian distributor of Funktion One sound systems, which Ward believes are currently the best in the world. "There are a lot of clubs in Ibiza using Funktion One which is the club Mecca. There area lot of clubs in Vegas, New York, and Miami that are sporting Funktion One. They are the epitome night club system. Funktion One really owns the electronic music market. Beatport just did a vote of the ten best sound systems in America and I think five out of the ten have Funktion One systems.”
Ward has seen a lot in the club world. One of his most memorable experiences was working a club in Vegas when Prince called up and decided he’d like to play a weekend of intimate shows. The venue was also booked for Tiesto, who at the time was the number one DJ in the world. Prince was contracted to finish at a certain time to allow for PA swap over for Tiesto. prince decided on his second night to play two hour
over time, leaving a 3,000 strong Tiesto crowd waiting outside. “they were seething and ready to burst out of their skin. This wave of energy came over the venue as these kids rolled in. The DJ dropped the first track and the place went instantly into mayhem. It didn’t finish until about 11 o'clock the next day.”
With his company and the Funktion One brand, Adam Ward is on a mission. “I believe in sound. It is a passion for me not just a job. What I want to do with Sydney and Australia is introduce people to that really high end audio that I experienced overseas and show people what you can do with sound.”
